Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu addpermalink

Both series begin with the main characters starting their middle school career and wanting to make as many friends as they can; while Bocchi is anxiously shy and makes a few friends over the series, Akebi quickly becomes the idol of her class primarily through her exuberant energy and positive attitude.

Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu. addpermalink

Both Komi and Akebi share the exact same objective: To make a hundred friends. They are both relatively popular among the other students so they interact with almost eveyone, and both series have a big cast of different characters

Non Non Biyori addpermalink

Both series focus on young girls living in the rural parts of Japan and enjoying their slow paced everyday lives; while NNB takes place in a 6 student school and gives equal attention to the adults of the community, Akebi-chan is set at a regular middle school and looks at all of the classmates of the main character's class.

Super Cub addpermalink

Both shows are all about the artistic style of storytelling, and feature a girl as the MC whose life marks a turning point after getting something. In Super Cub, that would be a motorbike while in Akebi's Sailor Uniform, that would be the sailor-style school uniform. Both shows emphasize artistry and aesthetics to tell their stories.

Yuru Camp△ addpermalink

These animes are incredibly relaxing, and it's just cute girls having fun. I know Akebi isn't about camping, but the vibes these animes produce are very similar !

Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu addpermalink

Both these character-progressive shows feature female characters as the focus of their surroundings, and deal with the theme of relationships.

Little Witch Academia (TV) addpermalink

The protagonist's classmates have their own personalities. Akebi and Akko tried to make friends with them. Their classmates thought that they were special or unique people in the school too.

Sora yori mo Tooi Basho addpermalink

Both have heartwhelming stories with beautfiul animation and cute girls as main characters. If you liked Akebi-chan's Sailor Uniform, you will love A Place Further Then The Universe. The story is more mature and it's in someway extrremely relatable.

Tsurune: Tsunagari no Issha addpermalink

If you watch Akebi as a purveyor of visual quality, I specifically recommend Tsurune S2 (obviously, S1 needs to be watched first) in your list. It has an insanely impressive execution and attention to detail in animation. In my opinion, it even exceeded Akebi's already envelope-pushing animation and cinematography.

Slime Taoshite 300-nen, Shiranai Uchi ni Level Max ni Nattemashita addpermalink

Despite their drastic differences in genre and tone, both series take place in beautiful rural environments and focus on a charismatic female character who creates a strong friend group (with Sapphic subtext) with the other characters through her skills and willingness to reach out to others.

Gochuumon wa Usagi desu ka? addpermalink

Both series have characters around the same age as each other (in particular with Chino and her friends) and have a nice comfy vibe as the girls of the series play around their town and get to know each other better.

Tsuki ga Kirei addpermalink

If poems were anime, I believe these two shows would be close. They have that lingering taste of cherry blossoms filling the air, and the gentle spring breeze tugging at your clothes. Although Akebi does not feature romance in the traditional sense of Tsuki, they both feature the love of living and warm feelings of maturing children finding their way through life, particularly through school. For something to watch while snuggled under a blanket, you cannot go wrong with these two.

The main characters, Kasumi and Akebi, have very similar personalities. Both are bubbly, outgoing, and optimistic.

Aria the Origination addpermalink

"Akebi's gondolier uniform" is well-qualified to be seen as equal to the ARIA saga. Both anime belong to the iyashikei (healing) genre and are also "scenery pr0n" and slice-of-life and CGDCT themed. Akebi's ep. 6 and 12 are right there alongside Aria's S1Ep11 and S3Ep9, which are true legends of the genre.Akebi is also similar to Aria S2 (Aria the Naturale) in that both are best watched with display aspect ratio set to 16:10 rather than the usual 16:9, due to "molten candle" character art style choices made by the animation studios, which some find jarring. VLC and may other players can set video to &nbspread more

Asobi Asobase addpermalink

Both are set in an all girls school, for starters. Both have funny gags, and both are good slice of life animes, for “The daily lives of high school girls” so to speak. And no, I have not seen the anime who’s title I’m paraphrasing, just to clarify. And they both have their nice little gags in there as well, in said all girls schools.

Adachi to Shimamura addpermalink

Adachi to Shimamura is officially yuri, while Erika's Sailor Suited Akebi is nominally a yuri-bait (but such a big one they legit catch a fish with it in ep6...) AdaShima moves at a snail's pace, imitating its LN origins, while ErikAkebi is slightly hyper yet iyashikei at the same time. Both series take place in highschool slice-of-life settings, with variable doses of cringe, like sniffing and nail clipping. Both shows have a refined but anxious young lady who longs for her more hyper classmate, though in Adachi the lady is the sportsgirl, while in Akebi it's the other way. Both shows have really high-quality visuals indoors &nbspread more
